Sr. Project Manager/Land Development Consultant

Westwood Professional Services is seeking a Registered Civil Engineer with demonstrated experience in land development for our Loveland, Colorado office. Westwood is a national land and energy consulting firm based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The firm has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level design and engineering services for private-sector clients.

Responsibilities:  Qualified individuals will assist clients in the development, design, approvals and construction of site improvements for residential, commercial and energy projects. Individual will be required to serve as the primary client liaison, manage multi-disciplined teams, and be responsible for securing new work and profitably managing projects.

Qualifications:  Candidate must have a degree in Civil Engineering and a professional engineering license (PE) in Colorado (or ability to secure licensing within 3 months). In addition, 10 plus years of engineering and project management experience in site development projects related to site layout, site grading, hydrologic, and utility and street improvements is required. The position requires a demonstrated history of successful projects with a portfolio including large-scale site developments with local and national clients. Also required are team leadership experience and strong technical, communications and interpersonal skills.

Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to be the Electrical Design Manager for the company’s Eden Prairie office. The position will be responsible for management of a team of electrical engineers and technicians within the Renewable Design Group. The team provides design and engineering services for commercial and utility renewable energy projects across the country. This may include oversight of plant design, AC collection design, and switchgear and transformer specifications as well as sub consultants. Position will oversee the design to ensure compliance with specifications, codes and customer requirements.

Responsibilities:  Manage group workload, provide design oversight and mentor junior engineers. Review technical project requirements, design optimization and constructability. Provide senior project management and Client coordination. Respond to contractor information requests. Conduct field visits and construction observation to ensure compliance with plans. Create and/or review technical drawings, determining power generation and interconnection requirements. Create or research available software tools and templates for systems design, performance evaluation, reports and data evaluations.

Qualifications:  Candidate must have a degree in Electrical Engineering and be a registered PE, with a minimum of 6-10 years of experience in electrical design. Fundamental knowledge of construction management and CAD software preferred. Project management experience is required. Additional state registrations a plus.

Recruiter / HR Generalist

Westwood Professional Services, Inc., a leading national land and energy development consultant, is seeking a human resource professional to handle Recruiting and HR Generalist responsibilities. This position will provide support to all of Westwood’s markets and offices throughout the country. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and is located at our corporate headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN.

Responsibilities: 
Recruiting: Oversees recruiting efforts for all open positions at all office locations. Position works closely with hiring managers to develop job postings, job specifications, and advertising strategy. Position will review resumes, develop and maintain database, setup interviews, create offer letters, educate interview team members on interview process, develop a pipeline of candidates and build networks of potential candidates. Responsible for researching job board effectiveness, select appropriate posting sites, explore social media options, professional organization sites, etc. This position may also attend career fairs and coordinate career fair strategies.

Affirmative Action and EEOC Plans: This includes applicant tracking, annual reporting and compliance.
New hire orientation: Create and coordinate orientation schedule, provide training, evaluate and update orientation process.
Registration process: this consists of processing membership renewals, seminars and conference registration, license renewals, ordering reference materials, etc. Processes the applications, provides cost value analysis and creates databases tracking.
Training: Position will work with managers on setting up training programs (internally & externally) for staff. Provide career development resources and tracking of career paths.
HR Generalist duties: Includes assisting Director of Human Resources with assignments as needed.

Future responsibilities may include processing payroll.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree in human resources or related field
  • 4+ years of hands-on recruiting experience
  • Basic understanding of applicant databases
  • Knowledge and experience with AAP & EEO reporting
  • Detail orientated and very organized
  • Ability to independently manage multiple job openings and assignments, determine and set job priorities and work with limited direct supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Understanding of human resource duties

Water Resource Engineer 

Westwood Professional Services, Inc., a leading national land and energy development consultant, is seeking a Water Resources Engineer (EIT) in our Eden Prairie, MN office. Position requires a BS in Civil Engineering and 1-4 years experience. This position will provide project level hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design to Westwood’s diverse energy clientele throughout the country.

Responsibilities:  The Water Resources Engineer will work on a wide variety of projects including, but not limited to, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, stormwater management, and FEMA studies. More specific duties may include: hydraulic and hydrologic investigation using 1D and 2D modeling software, drainage and flood control design, assistance in preparation of design drawings, producing design calculations, and writing technical reports, Additional duties include finding and utilizing various GIS datasets to support work on water resources are other related projects.

Requirements:  The successful candidate will have a BS or MS degree civil or environmental engineering, an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, and a strong background in surface water hydrology. Additionally, the ideal candidate would be a self starter, open to learn, adaptable to change, and thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities. Academic training, previous work experience, or the ability to learn various hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software programs (for example: HydroCAD, HEC-1, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Flo-2D, etc) is required. Experience using CAD and GIS software (AutoCAD Civil 3D and ESRI ArcGIS) is considered essential for this position. The candidate should possess strong communication skills, problem solving and organization skills along with the ability to write technical proposals, reports and publications.
